The Red Cross chapter that serves the Quad Cities provides services during emergencies such as shelter, meals, health care, and mental health care. The number to call for assistance is 1.800.733.2767 or 1.800-RedCross. Donations are welcome, and volunteers can sign up for training.
The Quad Cities Salvation Army offers a variety of services at its locations in Davenport and Moline.

Two shelters are now open for anyone displaced by flooding. Thursday the Red Cross opened a shelter in Davenport, at 1111 West Kimberly Road. Another is now open at 1201 13th St., Moline, IL (Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church).

The National Weather Service now says the Mississippi River will crest late Sunday or early Monday in the Quad Cities. And it should not rise any more after that. (Corrected previous version.)

Hydrologist Matt Wilson has a little good news for cities and towns along the Mississippi River in Iowa and Illinois.
