The weather service has now issued Flood Warnings for the Mississippi River from Dubuque downstream to Burlington in eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois.

(April 18, 2023: Updated to show most recent weather map.)

And most locations will see moderate flooding this week with additional rises through the end of April and early May.

At the Dubuque railroad bridge near the River Walk, the Mississippi is half-a-foot below flood stage and should reach flood stage Tuesday afternoon. It's expected to crest 4.2 feet above flood stage Monday morning.

In Burlington, the river is almost at flood stage. The weather service expects it to rise above flood stage Tuesday night, then go up another 1.4 feet by Monday morning.

In the Quad Cities, the Mississippi is more than half-a-foot below flood stage and should reach it by Wednesday night. That's also when the flood warning will go into effect. Forecasters say it'll crest 2.6 feet above flood stage early Monday at Lock and Dam 15 in Rock Island.

More information is on the Quad Cities National Weather Service website.

By the way, the wind advisory expired at 3 pm today. And a freeze warning will be in effect from 10:00 pm tonight through 8 am tomorrow.
