Join us the third Wednesday of the month, September 16, October 21, November 18 from 5:30-7:30p at the Davenport Eastern Avenue Branch for a Death Cafe. At a Death Cafe, people, often strangers, gather to eat treats, drink coffee, and discuss death. Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.

A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives, or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session. All are welcome to attend any/all sessions and can participate as much as they are comfortable.

A special storytime for babies who are not yet walking and their grown-ups. Emphasis is on interaction between caregivers and babies through music, action, and stories. If your child is already on the move, check out our Walkers & Wigglers Storytime instead.

Slow Art & Yin Yoga at the Figge
Instructor: Becky Nakashima Brooke

Age Range: Adult

Skill Level: All skill levels

Class Description:

Join us in observing a piece of art for few minutes, followed by meditative yin yoga practice led by Becky Nakashima Brooke. The class will end with savasana, with warm stones and eye masks offered during this time.

Slow art is the practice of spending more time observing art. The average person spends 8-30 seconds observing a piece of art. Slow art will allow you more time to connect with the art. The piece of art will be chosen for the class to view. Yin yoga is the practice of using seated and lying down poses to target the connective tissues around the joints, tendons, and fascia. We linger in the poses anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes. Reiki is offered during the poses for deeper relaxation. The time will be kept by Becky, but each of the students will have the freedom to adjust when needed. This practice is beneficial for all levels.

Come join us at Main to jump, shake, and shimmy the sillies out! Every Friday we’ll have stories, songs, and fun!
