Division 9 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is holding an intermediate Boating course. This course builds on the skills found in Boat America, The course is a 6-week course meeting for 3 hours every Saturday night from June 1 till July 13 running from 6-9 pm at the Coast Guard Auxiliary station, within Sunset Marina. The cost of the course is 60 dollars, which includes a book, and more. Some of the topics being covered are Navigation, Rules of the Road, and the Law, Weather, Safety, and security. Upon course completion, students will receive a certificate and wallet card. On Sunday June 16, the music of the locally famous composer, musician and band leader, Prof. Ernst Otto will once again fill the air at the Schuetzen Park. Several of Otto’s best-known compositions will be performed by Dr. Marian Lee, Associate Professor and Head of Keyboard Area and Associate Professor of Piano at St. Ambrose University. Come to the Park and walk the trails, enjoy the nature and at 2:00 the recital will begin. The program will be narrated by Nancy Dopler, great granddaughter of Mr. Otto. Nancy will give insight into the life and works of Prof. Otto and share stories about the compositions being performed. Refreshments to be served. Free entry into the Park.
