At a Death Cafe, people, often strangers, gather to eat treats, drink coffee, and discuss death. Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.
A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives, or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session. All are welcome to attend any/all sessions and can participate as much as they are comfortable.

Join us for an elegant evening at the historic Joseph Bettendorf Mansion, where timeless charm combines with modern festivities. Enjoy a hosted beer and wine hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., featuring gourmet hors d'oeuvres and live music. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid in both silent and live auctions and participate in popular wine and spirit pulls—all in support of Rivermont Collegiate. Before the live auction starts, we will gather for a champagne toast to mark the Mansion's 110th anniversary.
Tickets are $50 per person, with proceeds benefiting the school’s Excellence Fund.
Tuition and fees cover roughly 70% of the true cost of running Rivermont Collegiate. The Excellence Fund bridges the remaining gap in the annual budget, ensuring that classrooms are fully staffed, resources are up-to-date, technology is secure, and our campus is safe and well-maintained. Expenses outside the scope of the annual budget—such as major capital projects or special initiatives—are separate and not part of what it takes to keep the school running day to day.
