Rock Island County and most of Illinois Region 2 continue to be at a warning level for COVID-19. And so far this month, more local residents have died than last month. The number of cases per 100,000 people has risen to 151 compared to 134 last week. And hospitals have less than 20% of their ICU beds available.

So far this month, seven Rock Island County residents have died of COVID-19, four of them this week. That's a significant increase compared to six deaths in all of April and only three in March.

Two of the people who died were in their 40s. The other five range in age from their 60s to 80s. Recently, the average age of newly infected patients has been in the upper 30s.

In Scott County, one person has died of COVID-19 this month compared to 13 deaths in April.
