Hearing Agenda on Moline Municipal Election Is Set

Moline's Municipal Officers Electoral Board has set the agenda for next week's hearings about challenges to nomination papers.

After City Clerk Tracy Koranda recused herself on Monday, the next day, Rock Island County Chief Judge Walter Braud appointed Connie Mohr-Wright to replace Koranda on the three-member board. Mohr-Wright is the Supervisor in South Moline Township.

On Tuesday, she'll join board chair and 6th Ward Ald. Kevin Schoonmaker and 5th Ward Ald. Lori Turner to hear four challenges to candidate nominating petitions. The hearing is set for 9 a.m., starting with Mayor Scott Raes versus his possible opponents in the mayoral race,  At-Large Ald. Stephanie Acri and former Moline School Board member Bob Vogelbaugh.

Then the board will hear Raes' challenge against petitions submitted by Sonia Berg, who wants to run for At-Large alderman. And the hearing will end with former Ald. Dick Potter's objections to his potential opponent in the 4th Ward, Ald. John Zelnio. Potter is running again after previously serving on the Moline City Council from May, 2001 until April, 2009.
