Potential candidates for Rock Island mayor and city council can begin the campaign process this week. Tuesday at the Rock Island city clerk's office and across the state, candidates can pick up election packets for next year's municipal election.

Races to be decided next spring include mayor, and aldermen from the first, third, fifth, and seventh wards.

City Clerk, Aleisha Patchin, says the campaign packets include general information about the election and nomination forms. The packets will be available until the candidate filing period begins on November 21st.

If a primary election is necessary, it will be held February 28th, with the general election on April 4th.
