Former governor Tom Vilsack is touring Iowa this weekend, hoping to support fellow democrats on Tuesday's ballot. Friday afternoon, he and his wife Christie stopped at Scott County Democratic headquarters in Davenport to give a pep talk to the many young volunteers working hard during the final weekend before the election.
A key race for Congress in our area is a repeat of two years ago - in 2016 Democrat Dave Loebsack beat Republican Chris Peters by 54 to 46 % to win another term representing Iowa's second district which covers essentially the southeast quarter of the state.
With all the attention being paid to races for governor and congress this year, we often forget the local ones. But they're important because of the decisions local ofifials make, but also because some of them will eventually move up to higher offices.
