Kolb Appeal Rejected

Illinois Department of Corrections

Sarah Kolb's attempt to have her murder sentence reduced has been rejected.

Wednesday justices of the Third District Appellate Court in Ottawa filed their decision after hearing arguments in January.

Kolb is serving a 53 year sentence for the 2005 killing of 16 year old Adrianne Reynolds. Kolb was 16 at the time, and hoped judges this year would take her age into account at the time of the murder, and consider other factors such as competence and family background.

Appellate judges however ruled the local judge adequately considered how old she was when Reynolds was killed, and that she failed to show her long prison sentence was un-constitutional.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
