Cases Slowing But Deaths Rising

The rate of people catching COVID-19 may be slowing down in the Quad Cities, but the number of people dying from it is rising.

The Rock Island County Health Department reports eight more residents have died, bringing the total to 266. Rock Island County's case count is nearly eleven-thousand.

The Scott County Health Department reports another COVID-19 death, for a total of 153. Scott County's case count is 14-thousand-300.

Rock Island County's 7-day average, test positivity rate is 9.4 percent, while Scott County's is 14.7 percent. A month ago, those numbers were around five percentage points higher.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
