A pharmacy in Davenport now offers free, drive-through testing for the coronavirus. The Hy-Vee on East 53rd Street is particapting in a US Health and Human Services program. And it's not the same as the Test Iowa site at North Park Mall.
Registration is required online at https://www.doineedacovid19test.com. And there are no eligibility requirements. During sign-up, people choose a location and appointment time, then receive a voucher number. The self-administered test involves a nasal swab.
The Hy-Vee pharmacy schedule is 7 to 9 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and similar hours on Saturdays. Results are sent by email in three to five days.
The Department of Health and Human Services pays for the test kits, supplies, and lab costs. Hartig Drug and Union Family Pharmacy in Dubuque started offering the service earlier this month, along with Towncrest Pharmacy in Iowa City. Hartig Drug locations in Galena and Savanna are also participating.
Besides Davenport, another pharmacy that's participating is the Iowa City Hy-Vee on North First Avenue.
