More Donors Needed to Keep Blood Supplies at Sufficient Levels

As summer begins and the pandemic continues, the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is asking more people to donate blood.

Spokesman Kirby Winn says the blood center is also inviting businesses, nonprofits, churches, mosques, synagogues, and others to start scheduling mobile blood drives again. 

Another option is to host what Winn calls an "in center" blood drive. People sign up through an organization but then give blood at a donation center.

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has three locations in the Quad Cities including its headquarters in northeast Davenport, just off Utica Ridge Road near East 56th Street.

Another donor center is on West Kimberly Road, near Popeyes.

And the Moline blood center is on 16th Street next to McDonald's. 

Other donor centers are located in Dubuque, Galesburg, Iowa City, and Muscatine. It serves 115 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Missouri.

Officially, Michelle's title for 28 years was WVIK News Editor. She did everything there is to do in the newsroom and whatever was needed around the radio station. She also served as Acting News Director from September 2023 - January 2024.
