Many community blood drives have been cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is asking people for help.

Spokesman Kirby Winn says the need for blood and blood products never ends.
And he assures donors who come in healthy and well do not need to worry.
The center's locations are all taking extra precautions due to the coronavirus even beyond the usual, infection control protocol.
The local blood center has helped patients and hospitals in the Seattle area by providing a shipment. Besides offering mobile blood drives, it has three locations in the Quad Cities.
Winn hopes those who have extra time due to closures will become blood donors. The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is based in Davenport but serves 95 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Missouri.
Winn says check the blood center website HERE for locations to donate, then you can fill out a form to request an appointment. Or call 800.747.5401.
