This week, a crew will start washing the I-80 bridge over the Mississippi River between Leclaire and Rapids City.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says lane closures will begin Tuesday night, and the project will take about two weeks, weather permitting.
Interstate Maintenance employees will complete the annual spring bridge washing at night, Monday through Thursday from 8 pm until 6 am.
Motorists should expect delays and allow extra time for trips over the I-80 bridge. And drivers may want to take a different route.
