The Davenport City Council has voted to override Mayor Bill Gluba’s veto of a new Public Transportation Plan. Gluba vetoed the changes to CitiBus routes, after they were approved by aldermen last week.
The mayor received a petition with more than 400 signatures, asking him to stop the changes, which would eliminate some routes, making the walk to bus stops longer for many low-income, disabled, and elderly residents.
Now that the plan has been approved a second time, the new routes and extended hours will begin in July.
