First Army is inviting everyone to Arsenal Island to help celebrate its centennial. On Friday, the unit will show a movie outside on a big screen at Memorial Field.
Command Historian, Kevin Braafladt, says First Army was organized during World War I.
The unit, with help from Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation, will show the 1962 movie, "The Longest Day." It tells the personal stories of American troops who landed in Normandy, France on D-Day during World War II.
Braafladt says those who come to First Army's movie night will see a video about the unit and learn about its current mission to help organize and train soldiers.
And later this month, First Army will host a panel discussion about World War II.
Movie night is free, and people who attend will not be required to get a visitors pass. Only a drivers license or other government-issued photo ID will be necessary. More information is available on First Army's Facebook page.
