Biden Supporters Speak on Losing Family to COVID

Supporters of Joe Biden stopped in Davenport today to talk about his coronavirus response plan. The group included Iowa Second District Congressman Dave Loebsack and Iowa House candidate Marie Gleason.

Megan Srinivas is an infectious disease specialist based in Iowa. She says every day, she sees health care workers, patients, and family members struggle with COVID-19.

"The worst part of this, is all of this was preventable—every single one of those infections, every single one of those deaths. We have almost 1,600 Iowans who should be here with us today, and the reason they're not is because of leadership. It comes down to the lack of leadership that we have had as a state and as a country. We need a president who believes in science."

Gleason, who's running for Iowa House District 94, has also lost family to COVID.

"My uncle was a kind man. He was always there for his family. He was at all the milestones of my life. Now, we are going to have an empty chair at our table just like so many other Americans. Do not let your guard down. My uncle followed the protocols except for one time when the family hit COVID fatigue."

Gleason asks Iowans to wear a mask, social distance, and wash their hands. She says no matter how tired they are of the virus, the virus itself will never get tired.
