Roxanna Moritz, Auditor and Commissioner of Elections, says the coronavirus pandemic is changing voters' behavior.

"Just under 18,000 have requested ballots to vote from home. That's more than I've ever, ever even had vote in a primary election."

Since that interview, Moritz says the number has increased to 20,000 requests. And nearly half of those ballots have already been turned in.

Requests for absentee ballots are skyrocketing all over Iowa. She's the president of the Iowa Association of County Auditors and says there's a big difference between 2016 and this year.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is Friday at 5:00 p.m. Ballots may be returned by mail or dropped-off in a box at the Scott County Administrative Center. Request forms are available on the Scott County Auditor’s webpage HERE.

In addition, those who want to vote early in person can cast their ballots in the board room on the first floor of the administrative center. The rest of the building is closed.

People can vote weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. And special early voting hours are as follows:

  • Friday, May 22nd 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 30th 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Monday, June 1st 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
