Rock Island County residents can get help paying their rent or mortgage. Today, Moline Township announced nearly $25,000 is available for Emergency Food and Shelter. The federal money will be distributed to residents of all the county's 18 townships.

The homeless in the Quad Cities will once again benefit from a surplus at the Department of Defense. On Wednesday Moline Township began distributing 1,000 surplus blankets to local agencies.

Brant Franks from Kings Harvest Ministries picked up 60 blankets for their homeless shelter and meal site in Davenport.

Each year, Mike Malmstrom hands out some of the blankets during the annual Stand Down for Homeless Veterans.

Moline Township Supervisor Don Johnston says this is the 15th year the township has received them from the Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia.
