Return of the Bix 7

After taking a year off due to the pandemic, the Bix 7 will return this summer. Wednesday race organizers announced an in-person race will be held on Saturday July 24th.

To play it safe, they'll limit race participation to 10,000 runners, runners will have to wear masks before the start and after the finish, and the race will use a "wave start system." Participants can also choose to run a virtual Bix, and will have the ability to switch between in-person and virtual events. Race insurance will also be available.

Bix 7 organizers also created a task force with city officials and medical experts to plan this summer's event.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
