QC Storm First Season Is a Success

Hockey fans will get to cheer for the Quad City Storm next fall. Over the weekend the team defeated Evansville twice to end its first season.

Storm President Gwen Tombergs says co-owners Ryan Mosley and John Dawson are pleased it was successful. For example, attendance averaged 3,300 per game. And this morning, the entire hockey team and Storm staff announced they raised nearly $163,000 for 113 nonprofits and other groups.

Members of KISS show off the Quad City Storm special jerseys.

In March, the day after the KISS concert at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline, the Storm auctioned off special, KISS jerseys sanctioned by the band, and raised $45,000 for the USO of Illinois.

Other revenue sources include a portion of ticket sales, the Chuck-A-Puck promotion, and jersey auctions.

On the ice, only five players from opening night played in Saturday's final game of the season. The Storm had a record of 18 wins and 33 losses and did not make it to the Southern Professional Hockey League playoffs.
