Combine drag racing and a five-day road trip, and you end up with Hot Rod Drag Week.
Michelle O'Neill reports that yesterday, Cordova International Raceway hosted the fourth day of races to find the Fastest Street Car in America.
A couple of people from our area are in the competition. Steve Eden from Stockton, Illinois is racing a 1970 Chevy. Over his first three heats, the Nova averaged a quarter-mile in 10.97 sec. at 121 mph. But Roger Davis from Annawan only got to race the first day because his 1958 Volvo broke down.
So far, Tom Bailey is the fastest in the "unlimited" division. He's averaging 6.8 sec. at 219 mph in his 1969 Camaro. The last races for Hot Rod Drag Week will be held Friday in Madison, Illinois.
