The Rock Island-Milan School District is heading into the new year, still without a full-time superintendent.

A former Moline superintendent took over the interim position on Monday.

Lanty McGuire was the superintendent of the Moline-Coal Valley School District when he retired five years ago.

McGuire took over for Alan Boucher as interim superintendent. Neither McGuire or Boucher can work for more than 120 days, because of the Illinois Pension Code.

The Rock Island-Milan School Board is working with a search firm to find a full-time superintendent, who would start in July. McGuire will serve as interim superintendent through the end of June.
