McGuire Considered for Interim RI Superintendent

Lanty McGuire
Moline School District
Lanty McGuire

A former superintendent of the Moline schools may lead the Rock Island schools next year. Tuesday night the school board is scheduled to consider hiring Lanty McGuire to be Interim Superintendent, starting in January.

He would replace the current, interim superintendent, Alan Boucher, who was the principal at Arrowhead Youth and Family Services. Prior to that he served as superintendent of the Sherrard schools and superintendent of the Mercer County School District.

Boucher succeeded Cal Lee who served as interim superintendent of the Rock Island schools in May and June. He'd replaced Reginald Lawrence who was relieved by the Rock Island board in April.

If McGuire is approved, he would serve until next June, or until a full-time superintendent is hired and starts working. He worked for the Moline schools for 24 years, starting as a teacher and, finally serving as superintendent from 2015 to 2017

Also on the agenda for Tuesday night's meeting is an informational planning session with the superintendent search firm, School Exec Connect, to work on the search process.
