Galesburg police investigate New Years Hy-Vee bomb hoax

A fake bomb was sent with a pallet of grapes to a grocery store in Galesburg on New Year's Day.

On Monday, Galesburg Police and the Peoria Bomb Squad responded to a bomb threat at a Hy-Vee on North Henderson Street.

In a press release, the city said that the store evacuated when a device, with duct tape and wires attached to it, was found with a delivery of grapes. The bomb squad determined it wasn't a bomb, just "tape and wires surrounding grapes."

The Galesburg Police Department is investigating the hoax.
