Davenport Flood Plan Update

Quad Cities National Weather Service

As the Mississippi River rises, Davenport continues to implement its flood plan. The city activated it early last week.

As of Thursday, people can pick up sand and sandbags at the Marquette Street facility weekdays from 7:30 am until 2:30 pm. That's for property owners who need 100 sandbags or fewer. Those who need more than that should call Davenport Public Works to request delivery of loose sand and sandbags.

Davenport has already closed South Concord Street between River Drive and Wapello. Drivers can get to the Davenport Compost Facility by taking Rockingham Road to Wapello, then Railroad Avenue. City workers are also setting up pumps and closing gates in low-lying areas.

More information is HERE.

The screenshot below shows the inundation map for Davenport when the Mississippi River is at 14 feet (one foot below flood stage). This afternoon, it's at 13.9 feet and rising slowly.
