Food Rescue Educates QC Community

In an effort to teach people how not to waste food, the Quad Cities Food Rescue Partnership will hold a workshop.

The workshop will be held at St. Ambrose University during its sustainability week.

Christina McDonough, Board Chair of the Partnership, says in the U.S, 40% of food produced is not eaten. But at the same time, in Scott County roughly 9% of residents are food insecure, and it's 11% in Rock Island County.

"I want them to know that the Food Rescue Partnership is working to make the Quad Cities a community dedicated to eliminting food waste. I want them to know there is stuff they can do at home too, small changes, that will make a huge impact."

She hopes the partnership with St. Ambrose will result in less food wasted in the Quad Cities.

"Hosting it on campus at St. Ambrose University is a wonderful collaboration just to get those students and staff in attendence, just because it's right at their front door."

This year, the workshop will begin at 6:00 p.m on Thursday, September 29th to allow those who may work or take classes during the day to attend as well.

To register for the workshop go to foodrescueqc.org.
