This week, the Board of Directors announced it will look for an organization that may help Genesis find opportunities to save money and resources, meet patients' needs, recruit health care professionals, and maintain local control in investments and decision-making.
"While Genesis Health System is in a position of strength and does not require a partner to secure its future, partnership may create opportunities to address market pressures, provide additional scale and increase local investment as the system continues to navigate a dynamic industry landscape."
The Genesis Health System was created when Mercy and St. Luke's hospitals in Davenport merged in 1994.
The board plans to complete its study by next summer.
