Galesburg Parade Will Have Increased Police Presence

In response to the fatal parade crash in Waukesha Wisconsin, the City of Galesburg will increase the police presence and security measures for the Galesburg Holly Days Parade on Sunday.

Uniformed officers will be at every intersection of the parade route, as well as police vehicles at the beginng and end of the procession.

Chief Russell Idle says the safety of the community is the top priority for his Department.

"The Police Department makes every effort to provide for a controlled and save environment in which the community can feel safe celebrating and enjoying the parade."

The parade begins Sunday at 5 PM in downtown Galesburg, and will include the traditional rescue of Santa from the rooftop.
