'Talking Art' with Josh Graves of the Underground Economy

Situated on the second floor of the River Music Experience building in Davenport, IA, is The Underground Economy, a full-scale media and production house which bridges the gap between art and entrepreneurship.  Containing a podcast studio, a recording studio, and a content editing station, the space is available to creatives via a variety of membership options, with the goal to become an incubator for the arts within the Quad Cities.

Listen to our conversation here with Josh Graves, the Founder of The Underground Economy, about the digital community he is convening, the value of education and mentorship for budding artistic entrepreneurs, and the importance of collaboration within the local artistic community.

Earlier in his career, Josh Graves worked in the large underground rap scene, recording, mixing, and mastering hip-hop and rap music while also providing videography and graphic design services.

The Underground Economy is located at 129 E. Main St., Suite 201 in Davenport and you can follow them on Instagram or on Facebook.

Carolyn Martin joined WVIK as a host of Talking Art in 2017. A long-time fan of NPR programming with a love of storytelling and all art forms, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to speak with creative people who beautify our community and make the Quad Cities region an even better place to live.
