Minor League Baseball Canceled for this Season

It's now official, there will be NO minor league baseball this summer. On Tuesday, Minor League Baseball blamed Major League Baseball, saying it decided not to send players to its minor league affiliates following its decision to suspend the agreement between the two organizations.

And according to the Quad Cities River Bandits, the team and all others in Minor League Baseball are now on hiatus.

In a press release the team says, quote, "it looks forward to developing opportunities to bring joy and excitement to Modern Woodmen Park at the appropriate time later this year."

The Bandits also say all season sponsorships and suite leases will be transferred to next year, as well as season ticket, group, and single game suite purchases. And all single game tickets purchased for this season will be given a voucher good for any game
next year, based on availability.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
