Local health officials are dealing with many variables as they roll out COVID-19 vaccinations, including how many doses of vaccine they'll receive and when. At the same time, some people are becoming increasingly frustrated by the distribution process.

Michelle O'Neill reports.

Mary Rose Corrigan is the City of Dubuque's Public Health Specialist. She says there's no guarantee residents 65 and older will get vaccinated any time soon.

The county's COVID management team hopes to complete health care worker vaccinations this week.

Then next week, the plan is to give half of the doses to residents who are 65 and older, and the other half to first responders, teachers, and others listed in priority groups. (See image above.)

The challenges include not knowing Dubuque County's allocation of COVID-19 vaccine, when it will arrive, and changes in guidance that come from the federal and state government.

Dubuque County's test positivity rate is around 10% (14-day moving average).

Right before Thanksgiving, it was was 23%.

The number of deaths in Dubuque County since March is 160, and the number of cases is 11,756.
