Davenport Flood Response Update after Flash Flooding Monday

After flash flooding and sewer overflows on Monday (Memorial Day), Davenport is preparing for more rain this week. Currently the Mississippi River is 3.4 feet above flood stage and forecast to rise to about six feet above flood stage by Saturday.

Tomorrow, River Drive in Davenport will be closed between Rockingham and the Bettendorf border.

The compost center will close at 5:30 tonight, and River's Edge sports center will close at 8:00 tonight.

While filled sandbags are not available, Davenport employees will deliver sand and empty sandbags to property owners affected by the rising river. Note: To request sand and sandbags call 563.326.7923 from 7 A.M. to 3 P.M., or make a request on the city's flood response web page

The city is also reminding people not to walk, play, wade, bike or drive through flood water.

In addition, the first two Sunday concerts in the Music on the River Series have been postponed. Wednesday's "Market in Motion" at the Freight House has been cancelled. And this weekend's Farmers Markets will be re-located to the Scott County Administration Building parking lot.
