Even though very few people are traveling these days due to the pandemic, local residents need to remember how important tourism is to our local economy. That's why Visit Quad Cities will celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week this week.

Visit Quad Cities President and CEO Dave Herrell says his tourism and marketing agency will sponsor something every day, ranging from launching a new website on Monday, to meeting with event planners.

"To showcase our facilities and venues for people that are considering events in future. So working with folks like Scott Mullen at the TaxSlayer Center, Todd Hajduk from TPC Deere Run, and Dave Stow at TBK Bank Sports Complex."

He also wants to remind local residents of the important role they can play, by providing leads to Visit Quad Cities.

"That could come from family or union to asociations that they travel to, meetings or things they're connected to that maybe they traveled to three years ago - well how can we get that here."

Herrell want to make sure the Quad Cities is ready once travel restrictions are lifted, because there'll be a lot of pent-up demand for travel, especially for leisure travelers, and for destinations within several hours drive from their homes.
