A collaboration between River Action and the QC Theatre Workshop, the RiverStages Reading Series featured readings of six plays exploring environmental themes. Each was performed at a different local arts venue and was followed by a discussion with a local panelist on the play’s connection to local issues.
We aimed, over the course of the series, to foster conversations spanning art and ecology, to spark collaborations between arts and environmental organizations and their often disparate audiences, and to explore the ways in which arts and environmental organizations may work together to bring about solutions to the crisis we all must face.
The RiverStages Reading Series was made possible thanks to the support of the Iowa Arts Council—a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs—and the National Endowment for the Arts. Our April and May readings—of brand-new works by Will Arbery, Chuck Oestreich, Theo Goodell, and Rachel Jendrzejewski—were recorded thanks to the generosity of WVIK and are available below!
