Scott County Jail inmates are helping local children have a merry Christmas. On Thursday, Dec. 5, the Sheriff's Department and several inmates brought bicycles to Friendly House in Davenport. It's the 13th year in a row children have received bikes from the jail's bike program.

It was a wet fall in the Quad Cities. The National Weather Service recorded 13.3 inches of rain during September, October, and November.

Many Illinois college students will soon be able to buy marijuana, but many campuses will remain drug-free.

Augustana College, Western Illinois University, and Carl Sandburg College will prohibit cannabis on school property. 


The Iowa State Auditor is going to look into the recent sale of a former school in Davenport. Wednesday, Rob Sand confirmed his office has been contacted about the Lincoln School and the board of education's decision to sell it for $30,000, even though there were several much higher offers.

ComedySportz, a Quad Cities improv group, will end it's 30-year run this month. Founder and co-owner Jeff Adamson will convert the group into G.I.T. Improv that will host shows with local and national comedians.

Some century-old Davenport warehouses have been renovated for residential and commercial use. Y & J Properties and Insight Management will offer tours Friday afternoon of the Gordon-Van Tine buildings on Federal Street.
