Quad Cities health officials are asking people to buckle down to help prevent the rapid spread of COVID-19. Today, Scott County reported 386 cases, bringing its total to 6,761 since the pandemic began.
Doug Cropper, President and CEO of Genesis Health System, says one mayor in South Dakota told people to act as if they already have COVID-19.
And Cropper thinks that's an excellent idea to try and turn this around.
The number of COVID deaths in Scott and Rock Island counties has reached 160. Bob Erickson, President and CEO of Unity Point Health Trinity, says the mortality rate is 9-10% for patients who end up in the hospital with the disease.
In Rock Island County, the seven-day moving average for test positivity has risen to 18.4%. And 53 county residents are hospitalized with COVID-19.
The 14-day test positivity rate in Scott County has jumped to an average of 21.8%. The total number of confirmed cases in both counties is 12,370.
