Today, the State of Illinois will begin coronavirus testing in the Quad Cities.
The drive-through test site is located at the QCCA Expo Center in Rock Island. And there are no restrictions. Previously, COVID-19 tests in Rock Island County were reserved for those who met certain criteria.

Nita Ludwig, from the Rock Island County Health Department, says, "Residents who have symptoms of COVID-19 are especially encouraged to get tested. And again those symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, fatigue, body aches, headaches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea."
Ludwig and other Quad Cities health officials are worried about an increase in the number of positives test results in young people over the last couple of weeks. The jump follows a drop in confirmed cases in May and early June.
"Until recently, most cases of younger people in their 20s and 30s were frontline workers. But now, contact tracing shows other young people have become lax with social distancing and other public health advice."
Testing will be available seven days a week, from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, except on the 4th of July. The QCCA Expo Center test site will operate through July 10th.
A photo I-D and contact information will be required. More information from the Illinois Department of Public Health is HERE.
At North Park Mall in Davenport, COVID-19 testing is available for Iowans who have an appointment.
