Don't visit local hospitals if you have symptoms of the flu.

Lisa Caffery, R.N. and Infection Prevention Manager at Genesis, says visitors should not come to the hospitals if they're suffering from any these symptoms; breathing problems, sore throat, chills, headache, stuffy or runny nose, cough, fever, or body aches.

Caffery has seen a lot of influenza lately, especially in younger children such as babies and toddlers.

Both Genesis and Unity Point will require visitors to wear masks if they must to come to a hospital while they are experiencing flu symptoms.

Visitors under the age of 18 will not be allowed at all.

And just a reminder, to prevent the spread of the flu or any infection; cover your cough, wash your hands, and avoid people who are already sick.
