A contruction crew continues to work on the spillway and dam in the Loud Thunder Forest Preserve.
Director Jeff Craver says when a campground was installed in the Rock Island County preserve, the Illinois DNR reclassified the dam from a Class 3 to Class 1. That means it needed to be improved to make it safer.
While Loud Thunder Road is currently closed, Craver says he hopes it will be reopened next week.
The 1.9 million dollar project started in September and should be completed in February or March.
