The City of Rock Island has issued a boil order for the next 24 hours. The boil advisory is effective immediately for Rock Island water customers, from 7th Avenue south to 15th Avenue, from 30th Street to the Moline border.
The Rock Island Water Treatment Plant experienced an unexpected drop in system pressure this morning, due to a water main break. Pressure to the system has been restored and city crews are repairing the break.
All water used for drinking and cooking should be boiled until further notice. This is just a precaution, as there are no signs yet that the water is unsafe for consumption.
