Early Voting in Rock Island Co. & Preparing for Election Day

Employees in the Rock Island County Clerk's office have been busy as hundreds of people vote early in the primary. But all election workers in Illinois are about to get even busier.

Chief Deputy Clerk, John Brown, says the office has been open on Saturdays and Sundays for early voting. The first weekend this month, more than 60 people went to the Rock Island County Administration building to vote. But yesterday more than 100 voters cast ballots, and today over 400 people voted. Many had to wait in a line that snaked into the hall.

Tuesday will be a long day for Rock Island County election judges and county clerk employees. Brown says it'll be the first time people will be able to register and vote on election day.

The Rock Island County Clerk's office will be open again tomorrow from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. for voter registration and early voting.
