Time Off to Vote for Moline Employees

To encourage voting and promote safety, the city of Moline will give employees time off. On Monday, Mayor Stephanie Acri issued an order allowing two hours of paid time off, with permission from their supervisor.

Her goal is to help employees vote safely, during the pandemic.

"The whole thought behind it is to facilitate the employee being able to vote ahead of the election or on election day at a time that is going to be less busy than after work or before work."

City employees can also use their two hours to help others cast ballots - for example taking care of children while their spouse votes, or helping someone else get to the polls.

After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
