People in Illinois' 17th Congressional District want to know when they'll receive payments from the COVID-19 relief package.
Herb Trix has more.
Representative Cheri Bustos says people who filed their federal income taxes electronically (for the tax years 2018 and 2017) will get the money faster.
"Sixty million electronic deposits will be made during the week of April 13th."
Those who did not file federal tax returns electronically will receive checks in the mail starting May 4th.
But the IRS can only process and mail five million checks per week, and the agency will start with the "lowest earners."
The relief package includes $1,200 cash payments to people who earn $75,000 or less, $2,400 for couples who earn up to $150,000, plus $500 for each child.
Bustos says the relief package also includes funding for Community Development Block Grants. For example, Moline is eligible could receive up to $478,000 for coronavirus-related expenses. And Rock Island is eligible for up to $649,000.
