City Council Results

Moline residents decided two contested races for city council today.
In the 5th ward, they re-elected Lori Turner to another term, easily defeating Sam Moyer.
And in the 3rd, Mike Wendt will join the council after beating Sandra O'Neill.
7th ward alderman Sean Liddell ran un-opposed for another term.

In Rock Island, incumbent alderman Joy Murphy lost her bid for another term to represent the 6th Ward. Joshua Schipp won with 61 per cent of the vote. He had challenged her four years ago, and lost by just 12 votes.
And in the three-person race for the 2nd ward, former county board member Virgil Mayberry easily defeated two other candidates, winning 43 per cent of the vote.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
