Flood Nearly Over?

National Weather Service
Miss. R. in the QC Tuesday morning.

The Great Flood of 2019 may finally end soon.

In the Quad Cities, the Mississippi River has fallen nearly two feet since Saturday, and is now 3.7 feet over flood stage. It's expected to reach flood stage by next Monday, and keep falling.

Upstream at Dubuque, the river should fall another foot, and drop to flood stage by Thursday. While at Muscatine, the river has fallen two feet since the weekend, and is now 4.8 feet above flood stage.

The Rock River also continues to fall - it's just half a foot over flood stage today, and should fall below flood stage by Wednesday night or early Thursday.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
