EM Schools Return to Online Learning

Less than two weeks after the new academic year began, the East Moline schools will return to all, online classes, starting next week. In a letter to parents Monday, Superintendent Kristin Humphries made the announcement after the district had to send home four classrooms, including 29 students, late last week because of possible exposure to COVID-19.

He says teachers and staff have had what he calls "valuable time with our students face to face, however I now believe the time is right for us to move to online learning until the end of the fall break in October."

The current public health situation will determine if the East Moline schools return to hybrid or in-person learning for the second quarter, with a decision due by the board of education meeting on September 28th.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
