Despite the pandemic and the closing of schools, Moline is still holding out hope for a commencement ceremony. Tuesday graduating seniors drove up to the high school, stayed in their cars, and were handed their caps and gowns by school staff.
They also received a flyer listing the current possibilities for commencement - they include July 23rd at either the TaxSlayer Center or Browning Field, or the weekend of July 24th at the high school in the Bartlett Performing Arts Center.
The convocation award ceremony, however, will be virtual, in mid-May. Seniors voted to hold a prom, and the tentative date now is the weekend of July 17th and 18th.
