Despite Possible Threats, Dav. Schools Open Today

Davenport schools were open Wednesday as usual despite possible threats posted on social media.

Davenport Superintendent Art Tate says the threats of possible school shootings were received earlier this week in the Des Moines suburb of Johnston. Then the threats "found their way" through social media to Davenport on Tuesday night.

The Davenport Police Department, and school district, investigated and found that there was no credible threat to local schools.

Anyone with any possible information about these threats should call the Davenport Police Department at (563) 326-6125 or submit an anonymous tip via the "CityConnect Davenport, IA" mobile app.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
