One year, and more than 12 million dollars later, Knox College is ready to re-open a campus landmark. It will re-dedicate Alumni Hall on Saturday.
Spokeswoman Megan Scott says it was built in the late 1800's, and used for a variety of classrooms, offices, and other functions through the years. But it closed in the early 1990's, and sat vacant in the center of the campus in Galesburg for more than 20 years.
Then fund-raising began in 2011, and construction started a year ago. Scott says the inside has been completely re-designed and re-built.
Alumni Hall will host several of Knox College's special programs, and it will serve as a "gateway" to the campus.
The re-dedication will be held at 11 am Saturday, as part of this year's homecoming weekend.
